UPMC Sports Medicine will sponsor a three-day workshop July 29-31 for high school students interested in pursuing a career in sports medicine.

The 17th annual Student Athletic Training Aide Workshop will be held at The Ellis School, 6425 Fifth Ave., Shadyside.

In lectures and extensive lab work, students will be taught the basics of what they’ll need to know to be athletic trainers in college, and to prepare for careers in sports medicine, physical therapy and rehabilitation.

Optional instruction will be offered in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and the use of automated external defibrillators.

The program fee is $55 if paid by July 8; $65 thereafter. It includes course and lab materials, breakfast and lunch, and a T-shirt. The optional CPR and AED certification courses are an additional $10.
